The so-called “Queen of the Skies” arrived at Newark International Liberty Airport Tuesday as part of its farewell tour.
United will ground the Boeing 747 for good early next month. The iconic airplane has been circling the globe for 47 years. Those that fly it told News 12 New Jersey that they are still in awe of the magnificent machine.
“Nothing like being on 747. You do your pre-flight, and I just look up and wonder how can that thing fly?” said B747 First Officer Sydney Idhe.
The airline is replacing the 747 with models that are cheaper and more fuel-efficient.
