Body of 50-year-old man found on popular Cape May beach

The Cape May County prosecutor says there is no sign of foul play or threat to the public.

A popular Cape May beach was temporarily closed after the body of a 50-year-old man was discovered early Monday morning, authorities say.
According to the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office, the body was discovered by Cape May police officers patrolling Cove Beach near the end of Beach Drive. Detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office and the Cape May Police Department responded to the location and are conducting an investigation, the prosecutor said in a statement.
Investigators said they do not believe the man's death was suspicious and no evidence of foul play was discovered. The prosecutor also said there is no threat to the public, and the investigation is ongoing.
The identity of the man has not yet been released, but authorities say additional information will be shared once it becomes available.
