Local swimmers are making a splash at the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club in Crotona Park.
Their swim team, the Madison Square Dolphins, proves that you don't have to pay thousands for lessons to come home with titles.
The team tries to keep costs low by fundraising to help expose the kids to competitions.
The kids in the pool are breaking records and barriers. By learning to swim, some say it may break the cycle of minorities not swimming.
Over the past 13 years, the coaches have transformed the team with the help of their sponsor, the Michael Phelps Foundation.
A donation from the foundation helped keep the program afloat.
It also helped keep the swimmers inspired. They got to meet the Olympic swimmer himself.
