Tuesday means it's time to check out another spot that makes up the best of New Jersey. Meteorologist Mike Rizzo went to Metuchen to try out Masamoto for some authentic Mexican food. I'm here at Matsumoto in Metuchen and this place has it all from drinks to food, to atmosphere. How are you guys enjoying your meal? It's great, right? I'm telling you everybody, this is a place to check out and I'm here with the founder and CEO of the Lamal Hospitality Group, Saab. How are you today? Thank you so much for having us. Thank you. Thank you for coming. Of course. Can you tell me a little bit more about the vision and the story of this place? Absolutely. So I am the CEO of La Malt Hospitality Group and I wanted to branch out from just La malt and create something very special. Now, hence Maximo, very authentic experience when you walk in. Uh why we wanted to create Maximo was because I couldn't find anything in Jersey or anywhere in the tri state that I could get 1000 different tequila and Mezcal. Uh Not only that we actually traveled to Mexico with our entire management team, our chefs, managers, everybody. And we really soaked in the culture, the tradition of Mexico. And we brought it back to the number one town, the best town in the country, Metuchen. Oh man, this sounds amazing. This place has so much to offer. Thank you so much for having us here. It's Tuesday and that means it's time to check out another spot that makes up the best of New Jersey. Meteorologist Mike Rizzo got a chance to head to Metuchen to try out Maximo for some authentic Mexican food. We're back here in Maxim Moto and it's not just about the atmosphere or the drinks, it's about the food. I'm here with executive chef Antonio. This looks delicious. Look absolutely incredible. Tell me a little bit more about the mindset of the food and what goes into it. Thank you. Yeah. So, absolutely. Um Most of my inspiration comes from authentic Mexican cuisine uh dating back to cooking with my grandma as a, as a kid. Um that fusion with my experience throughout the years, my career. Um Bring it forward to today. It's a blend of authenticity, contemporary cuisine. Um BR br brought back here to Metuchen New Jersey and that's so unique to have it right here in Metuchen as well. So, what is this dish? So, here we have a grilled rib eye with marinated spring onions which are grilled as well. Um We finished with a Salsa Molcajete which is a blend of roasted tomatoes, Tomatillos different aromatics such as red onion, white onion garlic. And that's cilantro. It's a beautiful blend of pickled onions, finished with olive oil and we toast some ancho peppers to finish it up and give it a smokiness. That's amazing. And this is just a taste of what you could get here in Mex Antonio. Thank you so much. Appreciate it. I'm pretty good, Mike. I love that place, man. It, it slaps, it's, it's so good. I'm telling you the food there, the environment, the drinks like everything is crafted. Wait, you had drinks. No, but II I watched them make it. It was in front of me. I was like, wow, you know, so definitely I have reservations already. Just go. Oh my goodness, of course. That's why I made the best of New Jersey. Oh, you guys are coming. Right, right. You made reservations for three, right? Yeah. Ok. We can add more. No, of course you guys are gonna come. You had me ratty Nick, right? I'm always a late, a late edition, you know the whole family is coming. Ok. There we go.

I'm here at Maxim Moto in Metuchen. And not only is this just a Mexican restaurant, it has an amazing selection of agave spirits. I'm here with the man right here. This right here is the agave specialist or shall I say master mixologist over the place? Tell me, I mean, look at these drinks, look so well crafted. It's not just a pour of tequila, right? Tell me a little bit more. Definitely not. So we're using fresh gradients and literally everything. So fresh OJ grapefruit juice, guava passion Fruit. I mean, it's insane. It's a lot of work, but there would be a, you can taste everything on every single sip. So right here, we have the Mezcal Blues, a little bit of blueberry Mezcal. I use a liqueur and uh some F foam, which is an alternative vegan foam. So if you, you know you're vegan, you could still have the cocktail and then you have your classic canaro fresh oj uh grapefruit juice. Tequila top it off with your in the clay pot too, right? That's a classic right there. Now, how many spirits do you have? Oh, so we have over 800 different agave types. So tequila Mezcal soto rail Bacara. So literally a taste of Mexico right behind the bar in Metuchen. That's it. And it's again, not just the food, it's a taste of Mexico from food and drink and atmosphere right here in Mex in Metuchen.
