Bergen County to open cooling centers during this week’s heat wave  

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., residents can head to several cooling centers in Bergen County to keep cool.

A heat advisory is in effect throughout much of New Jersey. Experts urge residents to look out for symptoms like cramps, exhaustion and heat stroke.
Here are some cooling centers that will be open in Bergen County from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday:
  • The county administration building in Hackensack. 
  • The senior activity center in Garfield.
  • The northwest Bergen senior activity center in Midland Park. 
  • The southwest Bergen senior activity center in East Rutherford.
  • The civic center or borough hall in Carlstadt.
