A Bergen County couple says that they will adopt the pit bull that they rescued who had apparently been tossed from a car onto the highway.
Rose Collins says that she and her husband were driving near Newark Liberty International Airport when they round the dog severely hurt on the highway. Police say that it appeared as if someone threw the dog from a car window.
"I have no idea why this dog would be tossed out. I have no idea. We're all at a loss, the vets are at a loss," Collins says. "He's not one bit aggressive. He's a big barker but he's a big mush and he's adorable."
Veterinarians were able to help the dog, who is named Max, recover. His front leg will have to be amputated.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to cover the costs of Max's amputation and prosthetics.
