A Belmar councilman who was initially believed to have lost his re-election bid will remain in office after a recount of the votes.
It was originally thought that Thomas Brennan lost by one vote to challenger Joshua Vallario on Election Day. But the vote was so close that Brennan demanded a recount.
The results of the recount were made official Wednesday morning. It turns out that Brennan won by just two votes, so he will remain in office.
News 12 New Jersey reached out to Vallario for comment but did not hear back.
