One of the most storied high school football programs in the state is in the market for a new head coach.

Staples High School announced Adam Behrends is leaving his post at the school to coach at the University of New Mexico.

Behrends led the Wreckers for five seasons, capturing a Class LL state championship in 2023.

Staples high school finished that season as the No. 1 ranked team in the state of Connecticut.

There is no word yet on his replacement.
