Monday marked the start of New Jersey’s black bear hunt.

The hunt was brought back last year in reversal by the Murphy administration as an attempt to get a handle on the state’s rising bear population.

Anyone planning on bear hunting should check out the state’s Department of Environmental Protection website for a list of rules and regulations.

According to officials, the hunt may end early if the state’s goals are met.

Protestors have called on the governor to end the hunt, saying that there are techniques to keep bears off their property.
