A Rockland County nonprofit is transforming something as simple as a chocolate chip cookie into a life-changing gift.

Baking Memories 4 Kids, founded and run in Rockland, sells thousands of cookies each December — and every dollar goes toward sending children with life-threatening illnesses on all-expenses-paid trips to Florida’s major amusement parks.

The idea is simple – give families facing unimaginable challenges a week of joy, connection and a break from the medical routines that dominate their lives.

Founder Frank Squeo says it’s the volunteers who make it possible.

“We sell cookies only in December and use all of the proceeds to send very sick and terminally ill children on a weeklong trip with their families,” Squeo says. “Our volunteers in Rockland County are the ones who make the foundation work.”

So far, Baking Memories 4 Kids has sold more than 5 million cookies and sent over 300 families on these unforgettable trips.
