Bad weather across New Jersey caused major travel delays at Newark Liberty International Airport.
The airport reported up to six-hour delays for some flights as of Wednesday evening due to thunderstorms in the area.
One family was supposed to go to Universal Studios in Orlando, but their flight was canceled due to the weather.
“I’m supposed to go today. I paid my hotel today to stay until Sunday,” says Mareana Perata of Newark. “What do I do? I can’t cancel.”
The family says that they were told the next flight out wouldn’t be for three days.
Rain poured down on many parts of New Jersey Wednesday afternoon and evening. Parts of Essex and Union counties saw flooding.
At a home in Elizabeth, a chimney was destroyed after what was believed to have been a lightning strike. An in Gladstone, strong winds uprooted a tree.
The bad weather mostly moved passed the state by late Wednesday night.
