A backup 911 call center New York City officials are planning to build in Co-op City will have fewer floors than originally planned.
The plan to make the call center 20 floors instead of 30 floors has pleased local residents and community activists, who had argued the original center would have dwarfed other buildings in the area.
Construction on the backup call center is expected to begin late this year or in early 2010.
