A 23-year-old woman is charged with murder and other counts for fatally stabbing her mother at their home in Mount Laurel, according to authorities.
The Burlington County prosecutor and Mount Laurel Township police say that Marisa Rivera was taken into custody Friday night.
They say Rivera fatally stabbed her mother, identified as 56-year-old Denise DeNapoli, around 3:30 a.m. Friday. It happened at the home they shared on Pine Cove at the Ramblewood Village Apartments.
DeNapoli was found dead by police officers who were conducting a wellness check requested by her employer after coworkers didn't hear from her.
Authorities say Rivera fled the apartment after the stabbing. She was located and taken into custody at a hotel on Route 73 Friday night, authorities say.
Rivera is charged with first-degree murder, plus possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
The motive for the slaying remains under investigation, according to officials.
