Authorities: Suspect charged in connection to double homicide in Maplewood

Authorities have charged a suspect in connection with the deaths of two people in Maplewood on Saturday.

Authorities have charged a suspect in connection with the deaths of two people in Maplewood on Saturday.
Maplewood police responded to the area of Walton Road and Jefferson Avenue shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday after a report of a woman being assaulted.
Officers located an injured woman lying in the street. That victim was transported to Beth Israel Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Officers later found an unresponsive male on  Walton Road. That man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims have been identified as 26-year-old Karen Bermudez-Rodriguez, and 40-year-old David Kimowitz.
Maplewood police say they  have charged Joseph Porter, 27 in connection to these deaths.  
They say Porter had previously been in a dating relationship Bermudez-Rodriguez.
Residents tell News 12 the victims were a female au pair and an employer.
Porter has been charged with two counts of murder, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal restraint.
