The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is asking the public for help solving a deadly shooting that happened in Roselle’s Warinanco Park over the weekend.
Family members have identified the victim as Shakir Manns. They say he was hanging out in the park with other family members when he was killed.
"It's senseless and the person hasn't been captured yet. They can do it to somebody else if they can do it to my brother in broad daylight," Laquia Lampley, the victim's sister, said during a vigil held for Mans on Monday night.
Prosecutors say the shooting happened sometime before 7:50 p.m. on May 19. They are asking anyone who was in the park that night – specifically near the area of Baseball Field 10 and the Horseshoe near the intersection of Hagel Avenue and East Georges Street to give them a call. They particularly want to hear from anyone who was in the area between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on May 19 who may have taken photos or videos while in the area.
Anyone who might have information is asked to call Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force Sergeant Keyla Live at 908-370-6793, Detective Alex Lanza at 908-370-4318 or Union County Police Detective Nelson Costa at 862-240-6780.
