Authorities seek public’s help after human torso found in Elizabeth waters

Officials say that the torso of a Caucasian male was found floating in the area where the Arthur Kill and Elizabeth River converge just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office needs the public’s help after discovering a human torso in the waters of Elizabeth.
Officials say that the torso of a Caucasian male was found floating in the area where the Arthur Kill and Elizabeth River converge just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
The body part was taken to the Union County Medical Examiner’s Office, and it was determined that the manner of death was a homicide.
Anyone who might have any information to aid in the investigation is asked to call Prosecutor’s Office Sgt. Filipe Afonso at 908-603-7116, Prosecutor’s Office Detective Kenneth Luongo at 908-347-1935 or Elizabeth Police Department Detective James Szpond at 908-558-2041.
Information can also be submitted anonymously by calling 908-654-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at www.uctip.org.
A reward of up to $10,000 is possible for information leading to an indictment and conviction.
