Two homes in Essex County went up in flames overnight, and authorities are now working to determine what sparked the fires.
One fire sparked at a vacant home on Grove Street in Irvington early Sunday morning.
The cause of this fire is still under investigation but the flames destroyed the house with much of the damage coming from the second floor.
Another fire happened Saturday night around 11:20 p.m. in Newark.
This fire happened on Yates Avenue in a three-story home.
Officials say it broke out on the top floor of the home, and firefighters were able to put it out shortly after they arrived at the scene.
There's been no official word on any possible injuries from either fire.
News 12 has reached out to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office for comment.
