A preschool teacher in Bergen County is facing charges after she allegedly threatened to “shoot up” the school.
A spokesperson for the Elmwood Park Police Department says officers were called to the Goddard School on Riverfront Boulevard last Friday for reports that an employee made threatening statements at the school.
Police say teachers told officers that teacher Gina Schroeder allegedly said something to the effect of “One day, I’m gonna come here and shoot it up.” Schroeder also apparently told another staff member that she owns three guns, according to police.
The school was placed on lockdown and the building was searched for weapons. No weapons were found in the school or in Schroeder’s car, according to officials.
Police also went to Schroeder’s Nutley home and seized all three of her firearms, which were legally owned, according to police.
Schroeder was charged with making terroristic threats and having illegal possession of prescription legend drugs.
