Authorities: New Jersey pilot dies after falling from ladder of cargo ship

Authorities say a harbor pilot from Freehold died in an accident aboard a container vessel after falling from a ladder.

Authorities say a harbor pilot from Freehold died in an accident aboard a container vessel after falling from a ladder.
It happened Monday around 4:30 p.m. 
According to authorities, Sandy Hook Pilot Captain Dennis Sherwood fell from the ladder as he boarded a container vessel inbound to the Port of New York and New Jersey.
Authorities say Sherwood died at a hospital on Staten Island. 
Sherwood had been piloting vessels in and out of the port for over 35 years. 
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and two sons.
