Authorities: Man threatens to ‘run over’ people getting tested for COVID-19
A Camden County man is facing charges after he allegedly posted a threat on social media threatening to “run over” people who were getting tested for COVID-19.
New Jersey State Police and the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office says that 30-year-old Jacob Carr of Barrington was arrested on April 19.
Authorities say that Carr, after having learned that a COVID-19 testing center was being opened at the Rite Aid on Clements Bridge Road in Barrington, allegedly posted angry messages on a Facebook group.
Carr allegedly created a false Facebook page and wrote: “I’m gonna run you all over with my SUV if I see anyone get tested.”
Officials say that the messages caused a panic and that members of the Facebook group reported the messages to authorities.
Police were able to trace the fake Facebook page back to Carr. He was charged with second-degree terroristic threats during an emergency.
State Police Superintendent Col. Patrick Callahan said Monday during the daily COVID-19 briefing that it was not believed that Carr had actually intended to harm anyone.
