A Leonia man is accused of intentionally running down a teenage girl with his car in Englewood.
Police say that 30-year-old Jonathan Hintze was driving on East Englewood Avenue when he veered across the road and struck the 18-year-old as she was walking on the sidewalk. The incident happened Oct. 17 around 11 p.m.
Video surveillance footage shows the teen tumbling over the head of the car and landing on her back and then bouncing back up to her feed. The vehicle then drives away from the area.
The teen was able to make it home, but was then taken to the hospital to be treated for leg and back injuries.
Officials say that they identified Hintze as the driver and he was arrested on Oct. 23. Police say that Hintze and the teen do not know each other, and they are trying to find out why he allegedly tried to run her down.
Hintze faces several charges, including aggravated assault with a motor vehicle and knowingly leaving the scene of an accident.
