The police investigation continues into a deadly car crash along Route 37 in Toms River that left two dead and two more badly injured.
Authorities say the crash was caused by a teenager driving through Ocean County at extremely high speeds.
News 12 has learned that two people died in the crash: 23-year-old Evan Fiore, who was behind the wheel of a Toyota Camry, and Kiley Armstrong, his 21-year-old girlfriend, who was in the passenger seat.
There were two others in the back seat of the car. Friends have identified them as Ryan Chapman and Krista Armstrong.
Doctors at Jersey Shore Medical Center are said to be working to keep those two alive after both were critically injured.
Investigators with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office say that at 10:45 p.m. Friday, officers spotted a teenager with no license driving a white BMW eastbound over the Mathis Bridge. The car drove into Seaside Heights, where police clocked it speeding at 118 mph.
Police say they didn’t give chase for safety reasons. Investigators say the driver eventually headed back west onto Route 37.
At 10:58 p.m., the teen driver ran the red light at 166 and collided with the Camry driven by Fiore.
The teen driver behind the wheel of the BMW and his passengers survived.
Friends of the victims started a GoFundMe page to raise money for funeral and medical expenses. Others have started collecting donations for any immediate needs families may have.
The Ocean County Prosecutor has not yet identified the teen driver who is under arrest. It was also not clear who owned the car that was driven out of control.
