Authorities: Couple charged following assault on state trooper during Route 80 traffic stop

Authorities say a New Jersey state trooper was attacked over the weekend during a traffic stop, and a couple from Union County has been charged in the incident.

Authorities say a New Jersey state trooper was attacked over the weekend during a traffic stop, and a couple from Union County has been charged in the incident.
The incident happened Saturday around 9:50 a.m. along Route 80 in Hackensack.
According to officials, Alecia S. Jones, of Hillside, and Tyson S. Stamper, of Elizabeth, both 22, are charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, as well as resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.
Officials say the couple assaulted the trooper following the traffic stop.
The trooper was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
