A 4-year-old from Monroe drowned Tuesday evening in a pond near their family's home, according to authorities.

Prosecutors say the child was discovered about 50 yards from the back deck of the home.

First responders attempted to administer CPR at the scene. However, the child was pronounced dead.

Police say the incident remains under investigation.
