Authorities in New Jersey say they arrested more than two dozen people, and seized cars, guns, drugs and nearly $50,000 during recent drug raids.
Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato said Tuesday 16 locations were raided in May and June as a result of the investigation.
Authorities say the drug ring imported 25,000 bags of heroin a week and had been distributing prescription painkillers.
Prosecutors say 9,000 bags of heroin have been seized, along with marijuana, cocaine and prescription pain medication.
Authorities say 23-year-old Melvin "Money" Vankpana of Lakewood and Neptune managed and directed the heroin distribution operation.
Vankpana was arrested last week at his Neptune apartment and faces drug charges, including leading a narcotics trafficking network. It's not known if he has a lawyer.
