A 12-year-old girl is facing charges for allegedly stealing a car and fleeing from police in Bayonne.
Police had just been issued a “be on the lookout” for a car stolen out of Jersey City that was involved in a hit-and-run crash near 46th Street and Broadway in Bayonne.
Officials say that officers found the car near 10th Street and Avenue E and attempted to pull the driver over. Police say the tween refused to pull over and fled from police. The stolen car ultimately crashed into a light post on North Street.
The 12-year-old suffered a minor injury but is expected to be OK.
She was charged with receiving stolen property and eluding. Her name was not released because of her age.
