With Passover just a few weeks away, Attorney General Letitia James is warning Jewish communities to be cautious of discriminatory business practices.

According to AG James, this year and in previous years, there have been reports of car wash businesses in predominantly Orthodox Jewish communities raising prices for Jewish customers looking for cleaning services close to Passover.

In the days leading up the major Jewish holiday, many Jewish people clean their homes, cars and other spaces to remove "chametz" or leavened products.

AG James says some of those complaints detailed instances where companies advertised "specials" for car washing services related to Passover, but instead charged higher prices to Jewish customers.

AG James says the complaints have been both in the Hudson Valley and New York City.
