The Atlantic City COVID-19 vaccine megasite is offering walk-in vaccine appointments. The effort began on Wednesday and will go through Friday.
Hector Soto, 18, received his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Wednesday.
“I got in, I parked and it probably took about 5-10 minutes and I got my shot,” he says.
Soto did not have an appointment and was one of many who showed up for the first day of walk-in appointments. This comes as the state opened vaccine eligibility to all New Jersey residents age 16 and up.
“My mom sent me a photo on Facebook walking about walk-in appointments, and I just thought it was something that would be really quick and easy to do, so I figured I’d come,” Soto says.

Resorts Casino worker John Murray also received his vaccine shot at the megasite.
“Quick and painless,” he says.
Clinic facility manager Sherrie Bragg says that the National Guard will greet patients and place them into queueing areas.
“They are screening questions and demographics, and again, no insurance is required,” Bragg says. “Then we get you into the appointment and we bring you upstairs to be vaccinated.”
AtlantiCare says the reason they're able to offer these walk-in appointments is that they've seen an increase in people either not showing up or not canceling their appointment if they received the vaccine elsewhere.
“Each day we have up to 700 appointments walk-in availabilities,” Bragg says.
Appointments will also be available Thursday and Friday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Atlantic City Convention Center.
