An Asbury Park family is mourning the sudden loss of a loved one killed the afternoon of Christmas Eve.
Police say 35-year-old Cesar Peralda was shot outside the door of his apartment around 1 p.m. Neighbors say they heard a commotion, some say they heard a gun shot, and then the victim?s wife screaming for help.
Peralda was transported to the Jersey Shore Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Neighbors say they have no idea what prompted the shooting and are on edge knowing a gunman is on the loose.
A makeshift memorial marks the spot where the father of two was shot.
Police have not released a description of the suspect or suspects, but the investigation continues.
