Residents and visitors in Asbury Park have a new, cost-free way to navigate the city starting Friday, Aug. 28.

The City of Asbury Park officially launches its free public shuttle service at 1 p.m., providing fixed-route transit designed to ease traffic congestion and reduce parking hassles. Fully funded by the State of New Jersey, the service will not charge passengers fares or accept tips.

The shuttle operates on a set loop with designated pickup locations across the city, including City Hall, Springwood Park, Press Plaza, The Stone Pony, Convention Hall, Asbury Towers, Deal Lake Drive, Main Street, Dr. Robinson Towers, Lumley Homes and Comstock Court. While pickups occur at these specific locations, drivers will drop passengers off at any requested point along the route.

All vehicles in the fleet are wheelchair-accessible to accommodate all riders. Moving forward, the shuttle will run weekly on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m.

Mayor John Moor noted that the initiative allows residents to leave their vehicles at home while giving visitors arriving by bus or train an easy way to explore local businesses and attractions.

Full route maps and stop details are available on the city’s official website at cityofasburypark.com/shuttle.
