Four families, including a couple of seniors, have been living with an unwanted decoration to their home, a tree, and today, crews finally arrived to take down the tree. The tree uprooted and fell on the roof of the two-story house.
The home's landlord, Joe Giordano, says he spent the week calling the city, as well as PSE&G. He says the city couldn't remove it until PSE&G took care of the downed power lines. They are now finally seeing some results.
“PSE&G had a main wire on this tree and we couldn't cut the tree until PSEG removed the wires,” says Giordano. “Anything could've happened. It's a 100-year-old house and when you have that kind of weight on there, that is at least two or three tons. I got passed around a lot of switchboards at PSE&G, but the end result you guys showed up. They showed up. It was just a good feeling.”
PSE&G does advise residents stay at least 30 feet away from downed wires and report them immediately.
