Paterson residents honored a beloved member of the community who was killed in a shooting earlier this year.
Robert Cuadra, 18, was shot and killed on Jan. 19 while helping his grandmother bring in groceries.
The college-bound senior was accepted to Montclair State University on a scholarship.
Cuadra attended Harp Academy. The school invited his mother to a gun violence awareness walk Monday to help keep his memory alive.
"He certainly lived his life, as short as it was, with a servant's heart. He was the one who would always be the first to volunteer and the last one to clean up to make sure everything was set,” says Harp Academy principal Kelli White.
Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell also spoke at the rally. He said that practical gun control measures must be taken soon so that more promising lives like Cuadra’s won’t be cut short.
