A lifetime full of accomplishments -- A 102nd birthday celebration fit for an American hero will take place Thursday in Brick Township, and organizers say, you can be a big part of it by sending birthday cards.
World War II veteran George Campbell will turn 102 at the Willow Springs Rehabilitation and Health Center in Brick Township, and the folks at the center want nothing more than for people to show him some love by sending a birthday card.
Campbell was born back on Oct. 10, 1917, and his life accomplishments can fill pages.

Campbell served in the Navy in the South Pacific, before getting into the sheet metal business.
He’s built more than 100 classic New Jersey diners, including the OB Diner in Point Pleasant Beach. Campbell even laid sheet metal in the original World Trade Center.
He then became caretaker of the Thomas Edison Museum, a position he held until retiring at the age of 88.

"It's getting mind boggling now,” says Campbell. “It's hard sometimes, difficult to keep up with. But I have fun doing it and I wouldn't stop in the world."

The center was hoping for 102 cards, and it has already surpassed that, with well wishes for Campbell coming in from all over the country.
Places include Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, and even South Carolina.

"The best part is as he's gotten older I've learned to appreciate him so much more,” says Tricia. “The stories he tells about growing up going into the war, building diners. He talks about it now and it's just so rewarding."

If you want to send Campbell a birthday card, birthday cards can be sent to:
