Alleged ‘puppy-laundering ring’ accused of shipping designer dogs to New Jersey; other states
The Iowa attorney general has filed a lawsuit to shut down an alleged puppy-laundering ring, and it involves New Jersey.
Two pet rescue non-profits in the state are accused of sending designer dogs to other states, including New Jersey.
According to the lawsuit, the non-profits were a sham to get around "puppy mill" laws.
The petition says one of the non-profits sold nearly 1,300 puppies to eight different shelters in four states over a two-year period.
The breeds were allegedly sold for over $714,000.
Some of the puppies ended up at Shake a Paw Rescue Centers, which have locations in Green Brook and Union Township.
