Officials at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst gave the “all-clear” after a 45-minute lockdown following unconfirmed reports of an active shooter on the base, according to a Facebook post.
A post on the base’s official Facebook pages stated that the base was no longer under lockdown as of 3:42 p.m., and that all members of the base are safe.
“We received notification of an active shooter on the Joint Base. After investigating the incident, it was found that there was no active shooter. We appreciate the public’s concern and thank you for your continued support,” a spokesperson for the base told News 12 in a statement.
It was just before 3 p.m. that a post on the base’s Facebook page stated that there was an active shooter reported on the base at Building 5231. All personnel were told to lock down and take cover.
Details about what exactly occurred were not immediately available.
