Jersey City played host to the 50 Star Fire Show Festival this Fourth of July.
People came out to celebrate America's 243rd birthday at noon with food trucks, family activities and live musical performances.
Stars like Akon and Pitbull will be performing before the grand fireworks finale, which is expected to go off at 9:20 p.m.
Mayor Steven Fulop says all of the money raised during the event will go toward several nonprofit organizations in the city. He also says no taxpayer money was used to finance the celebration.
