AirTrain service resumed at Newark Liberty International Airport early Friday evening following an earlier suspension.
News 12 is told the suspension was caused by some sort of mechanical failure between terminal B and C around 3 p.m. Service resumed shortly after 5 p.m.
Shuttle services were offered during the suspension.
The suspension came on a busy travel day ahead of the holidays. Photos posted to social media showed crowds of people waiting in the AirTrain atrium. Some travelers said they missed their flights.
A number of passengers told News 12 they had to wait about a half-hour on the platform to either catch a shuttle or wait until monorail service resumed.
