A group of community members called All Our Energy protested outside National Grid's Bellmore office this morning.

All Our Energy says increases to natural gas bills for some Long Islanders will amount to $1,600 over the next three years. News 12 reached out to the utility company for confirmation on this projection.

All Our Energy is part of a larger effort for taxpayers to take back power from utility companies like National Grid. They want them to invest in more renewable energy.

The rally comes after National Grid proposed a three-year rate plan increase in April, where they said money would go in part to cleaner energy sources.

In April, National Grid told News 12 customers would likely see their monthly natural gas bill go up by $29 in the first year.

News 12 is waiting for a response from the utility company to confirm projections and when increases would start for customers.
