Quick round of overnight rain will create wet roads for morning commute

While Long Island will only see a few tenths of one inch of rain from midnight until 7 a.m., roads can still be a little wet and slick for the Wednesday morning commute.

For most of us, tomorrow will be a morning where you step outside and notice a wet ground, but also breaks of sunshine overhead very quickly.

It becomes cloudy this evening with scattered areas of moderate rain moving through after midnight. If you are traveling overnight, you will need the rain gear and need to slow down driving a bit. In Nassau County, the rain is over by around 5 a.m. In Suffolk County, the rain ends from west to east from around 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. You will not need a rain jacket or umbrella if you are heading outdoors after those times.

Most of Wednesday will be nice, but still breezy. In fact, we will be in a drier stretch of weather starting mid-morning on Wednesday and lasting into the middle of next week! So, make all the outdoor fall plans you want during that stretch! It will still be breezy at times and cool, but nice. High temperatures will mostly be in the upper 50s to low 60s which is close to seasonable.

An early look at Halloween shows the chance for some rain, but at this point I think much of that rain chance will fall during the morning. Trick-or-treat weather should be nicer, but the News 12 Storm Watch Team will of course keep an eye on this for you through next week.
