A huge waterspout dropped out of the sky and spun just offshore over the bay in Toms River, just as a couple was getting ready to tie the knot.
The waterspout happened Saturday around 2:30 p.m.
Kevin and Nicole Travers were minutes away from making their love official at a rented gazebo on the shores of Barnegat Bay in Lavallette.
“I look out over the bay, and I said to my mom, ‘What is that?’” says Nicole.
The waterspout formed just a few hundred yards from the couple and their family. The rain and hail let up long enough for the couple to exchange their vows – at the same time the funnel lifted, before touching back down across the peninsula over the Atlantic Ocean and out of harm’s way.
The happy couple say they now have a Jersey Shore wedding they’ll never forget.
