Police say eight men accused of robbing several Middlesex County homes since December 2007 were arrested Tuesday.

Authorities say they were tipped off about the suspects after a botched burglary in East Brunswick, where a ninth suspect was arrested.

Among those arrested is 54-year-old Joseph Passalaqua, of East Brunswick, who promoted his gymnastics studio on News 12 in 2003. Passalaqua is also facing federal charges for allegedly offering to kill four people who had been involved in a violent crime, FBI agents say.

Police estimate the crew stole more than $400,000.
