Six Jersey City tenants are in the hospital after a carbon monoxide leak in their building.
The incident occurred at an apartment building on Harrison Avenue Thursday. Threeteenagers and a pregnant woman are among those in critical condition following the incident.
Police say a malfunctioning boiler might be the cause of the leak.
Five of the critical victims were taken to Jacobi Medical Center in New York City for treatment.
Authorities say that the building did have working carbon monoxide detectors.
A tenant who was not harmed by the leak says keeping his windows cracked open might have kept him out of the hospital.
"The real damage is downstairs, those of the people that went to the hospital," said tenant George Pinckney.
