Four people were injured in an overnight building fire in Highbridge, according to FDNY officials.
The fire started shortly after 11:45 p.m. Friday at the Noonan Plaza Apartments on West 168 Street. It was put out about an hour later.
In the aftermath, News 12 crews saw busted out windows in the stairwell and soot covering the hallway walls.
One resident said they are thankful the damage was not worse.
“I came out and that’s when I saw the courtyard full of people. It was real smokey in here, but everyone got out safety – thank God for that,” one resident said.
The Red Cross is assisting at least one resident with temporary lodging and financial assistance.
The cause of the fire was not yet clear.
