(AP) - Three pipe bombs were found in a northern NewJersey town on Sunday, spurring numerous evacuations and roadclosures but causing no injuries.
Passaic County Sheriff Jerry Speziale said the bombs were in ablack plastic bag when they were discovered in a wooded area ofWayne around 3:30 p.m.
Authorities went there after being called by someone who hadheard about the bombs. That person is not considered a suspect,Speziale said, but was being questioned Sunday.
Speziale described the explosives as "basic pipe bombs" withcaps on each end and ignition fuses. The devices were about oneinch in diameter, and the largest was about 15 inches long.
Speziale said a can of gunpowder was also found nearby.
Bomb squad members were detonating the explosives at the site.
