DOWNE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- Rescuers came to the aid of three people in a canoe in New Jersey who sought shelter from a waterspout.
A man, his girlfriend and her young daughter were on the water in Cumberland County on Sunday when the waterspout formed over Delaware Bay.
When the group saw the waterspout approaching, two of them jumped into a muddy ditch and the third stayed with the canoe. Dispatchers kept in contact with them and it took rescuers about 45 minutes to spot them.
