An Asbury Park home used in a 2002 movie starring Robert De Niro was badly damaged in a fire Wednesday afternoon.
The fire started just after 3 p.m. on Bergh Street. A police officer patrolling the neighborhood saw the fire and called it in.
Heavy black smoke could be seen for several miles at the height of the fire. Fire crews worked hard to make sure the fire did not spread to neighboring homes.
Neighbors say the home was featured in the film "City by the Sea."
The home's owners were allowed back inside to gather personal belongings.
Firefighters are monitoring the rest of the home to make sure the fire does not rekindle.
There have been no reports of injuries.
