South Brunswick police have identified a man killed in an early morning crash on Christmas Eve.
Officials say Vedant Tiru, 23, was driving south on Route 1 when he lost control of his car, slid across the road and hit a pole.
While at the crash scene, police say a fire truck from the Kendall Park Fire Department was struck by another vehicle around 7:30 a.m. The fire truck was on New Road crossing over Route 1 when a car, driven by a 57-year-old from Milltown, headed north on Route 1 and failed to stop at the red light, according to officials.
There were no injuries, and the driver was issued several summonses, police say.
Anyone who may have witnessed the fatal crash on Route 1 is asked to call South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety at 732-329-4648.
