South Brunswick man killed in Christmas Eve crash on Route 1

According to officials, witnesses say the man’s car slid sideways across the road before it hit a utility pole.

A 23-year-old man died Sunday after crashing his car on Route 1 in South Brunswick.

Police say the man was driving a 2012 Honda Accord in the left lane on Route 1 south by New Road when he lost control just before 1 a.m.

According to officials, witnesses say the man’s car slid sideways across the road before it hit a utility pole. He died at the scene of the crash.

All lanes southbound were closed for several hours while police investigated.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call South Brunswick Police Traffic Safety Bureau at 732-329-4648.
