The New York City Parks Department is preparing for potential tree damage as a nor'easter is expected to bring strong winds and rain to the city this weekend.

In an interview with News 12, Benjamin Osborne, the assistant commissioner of Forestry and Horticulture, said the department is increasing staffing levels and positioning crews to respond to fallen or damaged trees caused by the storm.

"New York City and the Parks Department are ready for this storm," Osborne said. "We have crews that are scheduled to be working late tonight and through the weekend, as well as inspectors, and will be responding to service requests and assessing conditions as soon as we become aware of them."

The Parks Department said forestry crews and inspectors will remain on standby throughout the storm and will work to address hazardous conditions as reports come in.

City officials are urging residents to report any downed or damaged trees by calling 311.

New Yorkers can also use the city's Tree Map tool to submit reports and track tree-related information.

The nor'easter is expected to bring periods of heavy rain and gusty winds to the region, raising concerns about tree damage and localized hazards.

Officials are encouraging residents to use caution outdoors and report any storm-related issues.
