Public safety officials in Bridgeport spent a busy Friday preparing for the first nor'easter of the fall season as powerful wind gusts tore through Connecticut's largest city.

Bridgeport Fire Chief Mark Cody led a coordination briefing at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), prioritizing first responder safety and resource management ahead of an expected weekend uptick in 911 calls.

Simultaneously, the Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA) worked around the clock under general manager Lauren McBennett Mappa to clear debris from sewer lines in an effort to prevent flash flooding in low-lying areas.

These citywide stabilization efforts come as a direct response to a massive push to prevent a repeat of the severe, community-wide flooding that damaged the area on Sept. 13.
